Counselling goals

In our counselling sessions, I provide a warm and safe space for you to be heard and gently find out who YOU really are.

Counselling goals might be to learn how to...

  • Prioritize and make the right choices for yourself

  • Deal with your challenging emotions

  • Reevaluate your goals and aspirations

  • Build up your self-esteem and confidence

  • Be aware of your needs and how to communicate them

  • Create balance and deeper connections in your relationships

  • Feel relaxed, confident and safe to be yourself

  • Take gentle steps towards the life you want to live

It can feel intimidating to start counselling, especially when you don't know what to expect. So here is a quick overview of how I work with my clients.

15-min consultation

This time is for us to get to know each other so you can find out if you feel comfortable with me and my approach. I will ask you something like "What brings you to counselling?" or "What do you hope will be different by the end of our work together?" and of course, you can also ask me all the questions you might have.

Frequently asked questions about counselling

How do you handle confidentiality?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of my counselling practice. I adhere to strict legal and ethical guidelines to ensure that all communications and records related to your counselling sessions are kept confidential. As a Registered Social Worker, I am registered with the BC College of Social Workers, the ON College of Social Workers, and the AB College of Social Workers. and I am bound to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of Social Workers in Canada.

What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to counselling. We'll discuss your goals and hopes for the counselling, any concerns you have, and how we might work together. It's also a time for you to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process. Our aim is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where you feel safe to begin your journey towards healing and growth.

What is your policy on missed sessions or cancellations?

Life can be unpredictable and scheduling conflicts may arise. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. This allows me to offer the time to someone else who may be waiting for an appointment. Missed sessions or late cancellations without notice may be subject to a cancellation fee, as outlined in our policies during your intake process.

Whatever you're struggling with right now, I want you to know that you don't have to deal with it alone. Start your counselling journey today.
